1) What is Improv?
Improvisation, or Improv, is the spontaneous creation of an idea or scene from suggestions. Improv teaches you to take risks, be spontaneous and to work as part of a team.
2) So how does this “funny business” apply to business?
Life can become pretty predictable in the business world. Maybe too predicable. Sometimes the status quo needs to be shaken up a bit to get the results (and the profits) that a company wants. VAMP’s Business Improv Team Building sessions get participants out of their heads and into the game. Improv opens up possibilities that hadn’t been considered. VAMP’s Improv Team Building sessions are interactive. This means participants are on their feet and involved in the workshop the entire time. Research has proven that participants remember and use something that they have learned by doing. It creates an awareness and a sense of trust that they would not experience through lectures or passive learning. And participants learn that having a sense of humor can make situations more relaxed and more productive.
3) Are there rules?
Yes! While Improv looks a bit chaotic, there are rules of engagement that must be followed for a successful outcome. Just like in business. These rules, such as stay in the moment, yes and, commitment, attentive listening and supporting one another help participants to learn and understand how to accept others ideas and to work together to achieve a mutually agreed upon outcome.
4) What are the benefits of this type of training style?
VAMP teaches participants to be willing to take risks, think on their feet, become more spontaneous, and learn to really listen to others. VAMP’s ImprovTeam Building sessions gets teams energized and focused on a new project. We can help create teams out of factions and define common goals for the group. Improv Team Building provides a fun, energizing experience for participants that they will remember and utilize.
5) What does VAMP Improv Team Building sessions include?
• Building a sense of trust within the group.
• Getting employees to set aside their personal agendas and focus on the overall team objectives.
• Helping participants to think better on their feet.
• Strengthening communication skills including active listening, concentration and understanding verbal and nonverbal cues.
• Learning how to accept others ideas and build on them.
• Teaching employees how to push past their personal inhibitions and feel comfortable contributing to the group.
• Allowing an appreciation of each other’s qualities.
6) How many people can you train at one time?
Since this is an interactive class, usually 12 to 15 people per session are the limit. This assures that all participants will have an equal chance to take part in the workshop. If you have a large number of employees to be trained, VAMP will arrange for more trainers or can schedule training to cover several days.
7) Where are workshops held?
At a location of your choice. All we need is a room large enough for everyone to move around in comfortably, without distractions or interruptions.
How do we hire VAMP for team building sessions?
Click on the Schedule A Show button and fill in the information about your company. Please be as specific as possible. Once your information is received, you will be contacted regarding team building sessions, the location, number of attendees, dates, times, etc. We cannot quote you a price until we know the above information. After your questions have been answered, you will receive a contract to sign and return, along with a small percentage of the training fee. The remainder of the fee must be paid the day of the performance. All payments must be made by check.
